I agree with the comments that the gas can go gummy after even just a couple of weeks. If you are letting the bike site for more than a week or two I would recommend draining the carb float bowl.

Good for you Linnette. I try to keep riding as much as possible year round. One good thing about commuting in the winter is that at least I have a place to hang up my rain gear to dry before heading home. Today the weather was decent (about 8 C / 50 F and overcast) but I was making short little trips all over town to shop for Chrsitmas presents. I have to work in my office on Sunday for a few hours so I'll ride there on my 650.
